Story

I am truly grateful and honoured of being awarded the “Bright Future Whole Person Development Scholarships”. It did not only ease the financial burden of my family but also enabled me to have enriched learning experience.

Thanks to the Scholarships, my dream of studying abroad did come true. During my undergraduate study at City University of Hong Kong (CityU), I made a bold decision about participating in an exchange programme at National University of Singapore (NUS) for a semester. Apart from experiencing a different education system, I was exposed to a diversified learning environment where I could study with both local and exchange students from around the world.

One of the most rewarding experience of the exchange programme was about joining a 3D modeling team formed by students of different backgrounds. It was fun and challenging to learn how to draw 3D models via 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD and Rhinoceros. Inspired by a dome-shaped building model when I visited the Universal Art Gallery of Singapore, I came up with the idea of making the same type of building model for my project. When I saw my product fabricated by a 3D printer, I felt it was worth all my effort. With the advent of 3D printing, I was able to turn my creation from the virtual world into a physical object.

Studying abroad was not always easy, as it was challenging for me to overcome the language barrier and adapt to a multi-cultural environment. However, I became more confident and courageous after overcoming all the difficulties by myself. All in all the exchange was an exciting adventure and unforgettable experience to me!

With the support of the Scholarships, I strived to study hard and excel myself. When I was studying my Bachelor’s Degree programme, I was awarded the certificate of Building Information Modeling for my outstanding performance in the Integrated Building Project Development. I also completed an internship program in AECOM as a part-time technician in the Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) Department to acquire hands-on experience.

After graduated in 2019, I have been working at a construction company in Hong Kong. Thanks to Dr Chung, I am one step closer to my goal of being a teacher who can share professional and practical experience gained from the industry. I promise that I will work very hard and sustain the philanthropic spirit of Dr Chung by helping others. I hope I can even be a donor of scholarships to students in the future!
